Last Minute Holiday Gift Ideas!

The holiday season is upon us, and at some point, you’ll probably be asked that awkward question — “so, what do you want for Christmas?” If you’re like me, you get a THRILL out of buying gifts for your friends and family, but when someone asks you what you would like, you blank.

As college students and young professionals, you’re entering into a new phase of life. Think logically about some of the things you’ll need to help in your transition into “adulting.” If someone is insisting on buying you a gift or you need a simple gift to give someone you love, here’s a list of some items you may want to consider. These make great gifts for those hard-to-shop-for people on your list too.

Kitchen Gadgets

You won’t be on your school’s meal plan for much longer, so it’s time to start learning how to make some meals for yourself — and I’m not talking about microwavable Trader Joe’s. Basic tools such as pots and pans, mixing bowls, a knife set, cute measuring cups, etc., will contribute to a great starter kit. Expanding your collection of tools will motivate you to spend more time in the kitchen.

One year, my grandparents gave me a loaf pan and a pair of oven mitts for Christmas, and because of that, I’m now obsessed with baking bread.

Planner or Desk Calendar

Between classes, assignments, club meetings, and events, you’ve got a lot going on! Ask for a planner or a desk calendar to help better manage your schedule and improve your organizational skills.

My planner is my everything. I love writing to-do lists for myself to ensure productivity throughout the day. Having a planner has also helped me to become less reliant on my phone.

Business Casual Wardrobe Staples

As a young professional, it’s important to have your wardrobe stocked with appropriate business attire. If a job interview or career fair pops up, you’ll be prepared to look your best. Blouses, blazers, pant suits, and dresses are a few examples of essential pieces.

There’s nothing like a good outfit to make you feel like you can take on the world!

Household Essentials

Planning on moving away from home? There’s a surprising amount of helpful household items that you may not have thought about. Things like stationary, a set of wine glasses, dish towels, a tea kettle, dessert or hors d’oeuvre plates, a cozy bath mat, a throw blanket — the list goes on. Think of the things that you always thought you might like to have, but were never willing to spend money on.

It might sound silly, but trust me — owning some of these things will really make you feel like an adult.

With love,

Sabrina
